HOORAY!!!!!!!

System number 1 is freshwater leak testing right now. Tomorrow I'll bring in the bulbs and post the first finished system pic. Finally!

What's new?

Well, I've been kinda under the weather the last 2 days. Fever, congestion etc...Basically all the goodies that go with a quickie flu thing. Mostly better now. Today I did all the flap trimming on the 11 assembled stands. I was going to assemble number 12 but started feeling light headed again and had to split.Tomorrow is the first day of real sanding and sealing and Richard (yardartist) may drop by to help. I'd like to end the day tomorrow with 12 stands sanded, stained and first coat polyurethaned.

todays stuff

Picked up 600 frag discs (which need to start curing) and a bunch more acro colonies today. Did some work with Adolfo, our esteemed webmaster, to move this site forward. Set up our wholesale dry goods account. Tomorrow it's back to construction and I hope to have the stands fully assembled, sanded and ready for sealing by the weekend. Still shooting for a November opening but none of my optimistic timeframes have been realised yet, so .... Anyway, I'd rather get it right than get it 'done in a hurry'. As always, if you're around tomorrow between 11 am and 3pm, feel free to pop in.

stand progress

Getting about half way done with the building part of the stands.

Here We Go!

It's really coming together now. The floor is fully done and I'm guessing it's a sealed epoxy. Very interesting speckled green. I'll post some pics of the floor eventually but right now there are other priorities. Today we assembled the prototype stand and I'm quite pleased. Somehow it looks like a Gothic fireplace. I think it's the shelf brackets. Again, I'll be posting pics soon. I should be in building stands all weekend so if you want to see Gothic fireplaces on a green speckled floor, drop by.

So I was standing at my friends store, looking at the LR and thinking about cutting hundreds of discs. Suddenly it didn't seem like such a good use of time and I ordered 600 discs for LPS instead.LOL!!

Spent the last few days prepping the floor for patching/painting/sealing. We should have a nice floor in a week or so. And 8 more skimmers have arrived which, after our esteemed webmaster takes one, leaves us with the even dozen we need. The funny part is I don't even know if I'll like these units yet.

lots of rods!

Finished another batch of almost 3k frag rods today. I think I have aound 5k in the bucket now. Tomorrow I'll be picking up some stag skeletons (LR actually) to cut into discs to mount LPS frags. And tomorrow also is the beginning of floor sealing time. I have no idea what will be involved but I'm sure it'll smell bad!

In the beginning ...

Well here we are, it's the 11th of October 2009 and I'm having some nice strong coffee as I type the first ever blog post for Green Marine. Yesterday I went to a NCRC frag swap and brought around 20 of the frags I'd grown out on rods. People seemed to be very impressed with the color (even if I think the lighting at home does them more justice) and size of the frags and certainly there was a lot of interest in the whole concept of the acrylic growout system.
